The city is home to museums like The Lace Museum and The Sands Mechanical Museum that has artifacts and objects related to history and art. If you have had much of art and history, escape outdoors to one of the many parks like Las Palmas Park, Braly Park and Seven Seas Park where you can relax in the sun and enjoy with family and friends. The Sands Mechanical Museum

The Sands Mechanical Museum preserves the unique time pieces and mechanical marvels, both old and new. It features quirky time pieces, vintage coin-operated arcade games and nimble cars. On display are coin operated machines like 1920s Confucius Say, Chicago Express which is a pre-flipper pinball, Knockout which is a pinball machine, an art deco pinball Ritz, and many more old pinball machines, a shooting game and arcade video games that will entertain you and keep you occupied for hours. The nimble cars on display include Super Seven, Lotus Elise and Honda’s NSX. The time pieces include the collection of antique pocket watches and several other pieces. For sure, you’ll geek out seeing the beautiful mechanical wonders housed here!

The Lace Museum

In 1976, a small group of local women founded the Lace Museum. Later, in 1981, it was officially incorporated. The Lace Museum is dedicated to preserve the lace making art. It features a fine selection of handmade laces, lace books, lace tools and other items related to lace. The lace collection featured here dates back to the Renaissance period through today.  A great place for brides-to-be as it houses an impressive selection of wedding gowns dating back to the 1900s, cocktail dresses and non-traditional gowns. These gowns have beautiful lace work, detailing and designs that will amaze and captivate you. It has several clothing styles and trends from different eras.  Also, it features a collection of photographs by the residents of their weddings and each photo has a story to tell. These photos range from the 1800s to the present day. It also hosts vintage sales every year. Classes on lace making, tatting and knitting are held here. After browsing the collection at the museum, shop for vintage tools and needlework items at the on-site gift shop. A little gem it is with exquisite lace collection!

Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum

Situated in the replica house of the Sunnyvale’s Founder- Martin Murphy, the Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum takes you on a historical tour of life and times in Sunnyvale, from its early settlement to pioneering families to fruit industry to high-tech industry history, and beyond. Exhibits cover history, culture, daily life, economy and more. It also features vintage furniture, inventions in Sunnyvale timeline, antique radios, high-tech industry demos, mini-trains, artifacts and other memorabilia. There is an Orchard Heritage Park adjacent to the museum that features vintage farm equipments, an apricot orchard spanning 10 acres, and several interpretive displays.  Stop by the gift shop on-site that includes antiques and gift items. So, to gain an insight into the past of Sunnyvale, the Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum is the place to be!

Las Palmas Park

Las Palmas Park is a tiki-themed park covering an area of 24-acres, which features tennis courts, kids play area, dog park area, water play area, multi-use fields, tables and chairs, and bathrooms.  Amidst the lush palm trees is the huge pond and sitting area where visitors young and old can relax and take in the beauty and picturesque surroundings.  This park is lovely with ample space for dogs to run off-leash and play around. People of all ages can have fun here. Little one can play in the children’s play area or engage in water play area that includes many water features which are chargeable. It is one of the preferred places in Sunnyvale for adults and kids, offering a wide choice of fun. Have relaxing and playful moments with the entire family at this park!

Braly Park

Looking for a bit of outdoor fun and nature, head to Braly Park. Braly Park is ideal for relaxing, enjoying nature and engaging in outdoor games and water activities. This Japanese design park features horseshoe pits, children’s play area, shuffle board, lighted tennis courts, water play area with timer, sand volleyball court, chairs and tables, BBQ places, picnic area, and restrooms. The water play area is closed in winters. The children’s play area includes sandbox, swings, slides and bridges. Visitors can take a relaxing walk amongst the lush greenery. There is a school adjacent to the park that features basketball court and multi-use field that can be used when school in not in session.  This park will appeal to kids and adults alike. This spot is for those who hankers a haven from the bustle of the city!

Sunnyvale Community Center

The Sunnyvale Community Center is a recreational center that features indoor sports center, an arboretum, a creative arts center, a general recreation area, a senior center, a pond, and the Sunnyvale Theatre. Visitors can take a walk, bask in the beauty of nature, and engage in indoor and outdoor games. If you’re an art lover, there is plenty to do for you to boot.  You can catch shows, concerts, recitals and play. The center also runs after-school activities, recreational activities, summer programs and special events for kids and adults alike.

Seven Seas Park

Walk amidst the lush gardens surrounded by the pond, pavilions and waterfalls at the Seven Seas Park. The Seven Seas Park features a fenced dog park, a spray pool, water fountains, play areas, sand box area, arcade, tennis court, picnic tables, basketball court, barbecues and plenty of outdoor activities to keep the entire family occupied. This park lets your four-legged friend roam freely at the dog park. Running, playing and walking are the activities of choice at this park.
